Having a dog is good for your social a new study has suggested. A poll of 2,000 dog owners found that nearly half of respondents have made new friends while taking their pet for a walk. Potentially toxic blue-green algae has been found in three locations in the Lake District. The algae is always present in lakes, but the warm weather has made it bloom, giving off toxins which can be harmful to wild animals, livestock and pets.
